Iqra University, one of the leading private sector higher education institutions of Pakistan, is the first university to offer degrees in Media Sciences in Pakistan. Last year, Iqra University purchased a TriCaster integrated production solution to set up a professional studio for training and development in the Media Sciences Department.

Tehmina Lodhi, the Head of Media Sciences department, at Iqra university says “TriCaster’s ability to create a multi camera studio with real time effects and recording with simple interface makes this product an ideal machine for our live production trainings…and it's affordable.” She adds“The main advantage of TriCaster is the fact that it includes multi-camera switching, recording, live chroma keying, effects and animations. Therefore, it prevents the university from purchasing multiple hardware devices and software.”

Iqra University degree in Media Sciences offers three different fields of study: Advertising, Film & TV and Animation. Depending on the chosen field, the media degree's content is a mix of conceptual, theoretical and technical courses. They have a four year bachelor’s degree recognized by the HEC (Higher Education Commission) in Advertising, Film & TV and Animation and they also offer a Master’s degree in Advertising. Iqra University opened the degree in Media Sciences eight years ago, as there was a definite need and demand by the Media industry to train people in this field.

 

TriCaster is mainly used for the Film & TV major for the following courses: Production/ Live production, direction and News & TV Production courses. “We strongly believe by using the TriCaster Studio that our students learn much more effectively and focus on the real production issues because they do not need to worry about its logistics and configuration. We will definitely use TriCaster on our other campuses as soon as we start offering programs in Film & TV”.
